Description
Product information "seeed Grove - Rotary Angle Sensor"
The Grove - Rotary Angle Sensor is an analogue potentiometer module with an output voltage between 0 V and Vcc (typically 5 V DC when used with a Seeeduino), which is read out via the D1 connection of the Grove system. The D2 connection remains unused. The rotation angle range is 300 degrees, with the output voltage varying linearly with the rotation angle. The resistance value is 10 kΩ, which is suitable for applications with Arduino. The module is compatible with both Arduino and Raspberry Pi systems. A Grove Base Shield V2 for Arduino or a Grove Base HAT for Raspberry Pi is used for the connection.
The module uses a potentiometer, also known as a potmeter or pot, which consists of a resistive element (track) and a sliding contact (wiper) that moves along the resistive element. This internal design enables an analogue voltage change depending on the angle of rotation.
Another variant, the Grove - Rotary Angle Sensor(P), has a Grove connection on the back for easy integration as a user interface with concealed cable routing.
The sensor is suitable for projects with analogue input based on Grove, especially for Arduino and Raspberry Pi projects. It can be used to implement rotary controls, user interfaces and in maker education.
The sensor is used as an analogue input device in microcontroller projects to transmit manual setting values such as position, intensity or speed. The analogue output allows precise evaluation of the rotary position over the entire 300° range. Thanks to the standardised Grove system, the connection is uncomplicated and requires no soldering. The linear output enables a consistent and reproducible response to rotary movements. The compact design allows the module to be easily integrated into various electronic systems. Typical applications include controllable interfaces, user-operated controls, DIY projects and educational projects with sensor integration.
The sensor generates a continuously increasing or decreasing voltage between 0 V and the supply voltage depending on the angle of rotation. This occurs linearly over a range of 300 degrees. The potentiometer consists of a fixed resistor (track) on which a sliding contact (wiper) moves. Fixed voltages are applied to both ends of the resistor, while the position of the wiper determines the voltage value for the output. The module is equipped with a Grove connection, allowing it to be integrated into Grove-compatible microcontroller platforms such as Arduino or Raspberry Pi without additional soldering. It is configured via a single analogue input pin.
