Description

Product information "LilyPad MP3"

The LilyPad MP3 Player is an all-in-one audio solution that includes an Arduino-compatible microcontroller, an MP3 (and many other formats) audio decoder chip, a micro SD card socket, and a stereo audio amplifier. As part of the Lilypad E-Textiles line, this board can be used to add music or other sounds to your fabric creations, which you can store on a micro SD card.

It can be powered by a 3.7V Lipo battery (charging circuit built in!) or an external 3.5-6V source. Out of the box it will play certain audio files if one of its five trigger inputs is grounded, or you can solder in an RGB rotary encoder (not included) and load new firmware (included in the link below) to add a user interface for track selection and volume control!

The board is compatible with sketches written for the MP3 Player Shield. Our example code uses Bill Porter's MP3 player library, which makes writing new code very easy. All you need to do is add a microSD card and some speakers, and you're ready to rock.

Note: A portion of this sale proceeds will go to Dr Leah Buechley for further e-textile development and education, and to Arduino LLC to fund further development of new tools and new IDE features.

Features:
  • ATmega 328p microprocessor with Arduino bootloader (Pro 3.3V/8MHz)
  • VS1053B MP3 (and many other formats) decoder chip
  • TPA2016D2 stereo amplifier
  • MCP73831 3.7V Lipo charger (preset to 500mA, rate can be changed on request)
  • Headphone socket
  • Five trigger inputs, can also be used as analogue, serial and I2C ("wire") connections
  • Load new firmware (or write your own) with the free Arduino IDE
  • 5V FTDI base breakout for charging and reprogramming the battery
  • Header for optional RGB encoder (not included, must be soldered)

SparkFun – open-source electronics from Colorado

SparkFun Electronics was founded in Boulder, Colorado in 2003 and is one of the defining companies of the maker movement. The idea behind it: electronics should be accessible to everyone. That is why SparkFun publishes the schematics and layouts of its products as open-source hardware and accompanies them with detailed guides and tutorials.

Development and manufacturing take place in the USA. SparkFun is best known for the Qwiic system, which allows sensors and modules to be combined via plug connection without soldering, as well as for the Thing Plus and MicroMod platforms for IoT and embedded projects.

At BerryBase you will find a large selection of genuine SparkFun products – from breakout boards for quick prototypes to development boards for professional applications.

Safety instructions
  • Only use the LilyPad board with the recommended voltages to prevent damage to the device and connected components.
  • Avoid short circuits, especially on exposed connections and contact elements.
  • Never connect the board to a power source while wiring or electronic work is being carried out.
  • Keep the board away from water-bearing or humid environments to prevent short circuits or corrosion.
  • Only operate with suitable and compatible accessory components (sensors, LEDs, actuators).
  • Ensure that the polarity of the power supply is correct. Incorrectly polarised connections can cause damage.
  • Keep the LilyPad away from children, as small components can be swallowed.
  • Dispose of the board or defective components in accordance with local regulations for electronic waste.
  • Do not use a damaged board - cracks, broken contacts or a burning odour indicate potential hazards.
  • Ensure environmentally friendly disposal, dispose of batteries separately and ensure recycling.
