Description
Product information "SparkFun MicroMod nRF52840 processor"
The MicroMod nRF52840 processor is equipped with the same Raytac MDBT50Q-P1M found in our Pro nRF52840 Mini. This module includes an integrated trace antenna, adapts the IC to an FCC-approved footprint, and includes decoupling and timing mechanisms that would need to be developed in a circuit with the bare nRF52840 IC. The Bluetooth transceiver included on the nRF52840 has a BT 5.1 stack and supports Bluetooth 5, Bluetooth Mesh, IEEE 802.15.4 (Zigbee & Thread) and 2.4Ghz RF radio protocols (including Nordic's proprietary RF protocol), so you can choose which option is best for your application.
We have also routed two I2C buses, two SPI buses, eleven GPIO, dedicated digital, analogue, PWM and PDM pins and multiple serial UARTS to cover almost all your peripheral requirements.
Features:
nRF52840General features:
- ARM Cortex-M4 CPU with floating point unit (FPU)
- 1MB internal Flash -- For all your programme, soft device and file storage needs!
- 256kB internal RAM -- For your stack and heap memory.
- Integrated 2.4GHz radio with support for:
- Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) -- With support for peripheral and/or central BLE devices
- Bluetooth 5 -- Mesh Bluetooth!
- ANT -- If you want to turn the device into a heart rate or training monitor.
- Nordic's proprietary RF protocol -- If you want to communicate securely with other Nordic devices.
- Any I/O peripherals you might need
- USB -- Turn your nRF52840 into a USB mass storage device, use a CDC interface (USB serial) and more. This is a big plus over the nRF52832!
- UART -- Serial interfaces with support for hardware flow control if desired.
- I2C -- Everyone's favourite 2-wire bidirectional bus interface
- SPI -- If you prefer the 3+-wire serial interface
- Analogue to digital converter (ADC) -- Eight pins on the nRF52840 mini breakout support analogue inputs
- PWM -- Timer support on each pin means PWM support for driving LEDs or servo motors.
- Real Time Clock (RTC) -- Keeps accurate track of seconds and milliseconds, also supports timed deep sleep functions.
- Three UARTs
- Primarily bound to the USB interface. Two hardware UARTs.
- Two I2C buses
- Two SPI buses
- Secondary SPI bus mainly used for flash IC
- PDM audio processing
- Two analogue inputs
- Two dedicated digital I/O pins
- Two dedicated PWM pins
- Eleven general purpose I/O pins

SparkFun – open-source electronics from Colorado
SparkFun Electronics was founded in Boulder, Colorado in 2003 and is one of the defining companies of the maker movement. The idea behind it: electronics should be accessible to everyone. That is why SparkFun publishes the schematics and layouts of its products as open-source hardware and accompanies them with detailed guides and tutorials.
Development and manufacturing take place in the USA. SparkFun is best known for the Qwiic system, which allows sensors and modules to be combined via plug connection without soldering, as well as for the Thing Plus and MicroMod platforms for IoT and embedded projects.
At BerryBase you will find a large selection of genuine SparkFun products – from breakout boards for quick prototypes to development boards for professional applications.
