Seeed Grove - Electricity sensor (TA12-200)
The Grove electricity sensor module is based on a TA12-200 current transformer that converts large alternating currents into a small output signal. The module enables the measurement of alternating currents up to a maximum of 5 amperes. It is suitable for applications such as current monitoring or device status analysis and can be easily integrated into existing systems thanks to the Grove interface.

The TA12-200 is a current transformer that is used for the galvanically isolated measurement of large alternating currents. The small alternating voltage generated can be analysed by microcontrollers. This functional principle allows it to be used in areas where direct measurement of the current flow through a system is not possible or is safety-critical. The sensor outputs an analogue signal that is proportional to the current in the conductor to be monitored.

The module is used for current measurement in AC circuits with currents of up to 5 A. It can be used to monitor the operating status of devices, e.g. by recording the current consumption. The sensor works without contact as it is based on induction. This property makes it possible to measure alternating current without disconnecting the conductor. Areas of application include energy monitoring in DIY, Arduino or Raspberry Pi projects as well as industrial applications.

The product measures alternating current without contact using a current transformer. It is placed near a live conductor, inductively measures the current and passes a corresponding output voltage to microcontrollers or other analogue inputs. The sensor is small, Grove-compatible and can be easily integrated into existing systems. The maximum current load is 5 A.
