Pololu DRV8434S SPI Stepper Motor Driver Carrier, 2A Max. Current Limit This breakout board driver for the DRV8434S microstepping bipolar stepper motor from TI works with operating voltages from 4.5 V to 48 V and can deliver up to 1.2 A continuously per phase without heat sink or airflow (2 A peak value). The SPI interface allows configuration of current limit, step mode (11 step modes from full step to 1/256 step), decay mode and stall detection. The driver also has built-in protection against undervoltage, overcurrent and overtemperature. This version has the maximum current limit set to 2 A, and SPI can be used to set the actual current limit to one of 16 evenly spaced values from 125 mA to 2 A (i.e. in 125 mA steps). Pololu DRV8434 stepper motor driver, 1/256 steps, bipolar, 1.2-2A, 4.5-48V, without header The Pololu DRV8434 stepper motor driver is a versatile module for controlling bipolar stepper motors. The module supports microstepping up to 1/256 step and works with an operating voltage of 4.5 V to 48 V. It delivers up to 1.2 A continuously per phase without additional cooling and can reach peak currents of 2 A for short periods. It is controlled via a simple step and direction interface and is compatible with 1.8 V, 3.3 V and 5 V systems. The driver has an integrated voltage regulator that enables easy integration into various projects. Protection mechanisms such as overtemperature shutdown, overcurrent protection and undervoltage protection are also integrated. Two intelligent current control modes ensure smooth movement of the motors without the need for manual adjustment. The module is based on the Texas Instruments DRV8434 stepper motor driver and is designed as a carrier module. The header is included in the scope of delivery and must be soldered on yourself. The module is compatible with the widely used A4988 driver module and can be used as a replacement in many applications. The integrated spread spectrum clocking reduces electromagnetic interference, while the 4-layer, 2 ounce copper PCB ensures improved heat dissipation.
