Product information "MCP9600 Thermocouple amplifier breakout "

This high quality MCP9600 thermocouple amplifier breakout works with eight different thermocouple types, has inbuilt temperature alerts, is compatible with Raspberry Pi, Arduino and with our solderless breakout Garden HAT.

Thermocouples are temperature sensors ideal for more industrial use where durability and tolerance to extreme conditions are required, such as ovens or freezers. Type K stainless steel thermocouples can withstand and measure temperatures from -200°C to over 800°C (in our tests) when used with the MCP9600.

The MCP9600 works with K, J, T, N, S, E, B and R type thermocouples. It has built-in cold junction compensation, four configurable temperature alerts and robust screw terminals to connect your thermocouple.

It is compatible with our stylish Breakout Garden HAT, where using breakouts is as simple as plugging into one of the six slots, creating projects and coding.

Please note that you will also need a thermocouple for this breakout if you don't already have one, such as our stainless steel K-type or braided K-type thermocouple.

Software

We have put together a Python library that you can use to read data from your MCP9600 Thermocouple Amplifier Breakout and a simple one-line installer to install everything.

Our software does not support Raspbian Wheezy.

Notes

The screw terminals are marked + and -, but it will not damage your thermocouple or the breakout itself if you connect the wires of your thermocouple the wrong way round. Some thermocouples have coloured wires (red (+) and blue/black (-)), others do not. If the thermocouple is connected the wrong way round, you can quickly recognise this because the temperature moves in the opposite direction! Just reverse the wires and you'll be in business!
