PKCell – LiPo batteries for small projects

PKCell is a Chinese battery manufacturer that has been producing since the 1990s. Particularly relevant for makers are the lithium polymer batteries, used wherever a project is meant to work without a cable.

LiPo cells are flat, light and can be produced in almost any format – which makes them interesting for portable devices, sensor nodes and wearables, where a round cell simply will not fit. The range extends from 100 mAh for tiny applications to 2500 mAh for longer runtimes.

Important in practice: the batteries come fitted with a JST connector and an integrated protection circuit that guards against deep discharge, overcharging and short circuit. This allows them to be connected directly to common charging modules and development boards.
