Arduino Nano Matter
The Arduino Nano Matter is a compact microcontroller for the development of energy-efficient, wirelessly networked IoT devices based on open standards. It supports the Matter protocol, a manufacturer-independent smart home standard for secure and reliable device communication over IP. Matter ensures standardised control and compatibility with platforms such as Apple HomeKit, Google Home and Amazon Alexa.

Wireless communication takes place via Thread, an IPv6-based mesh network protocol that was specially developed for smart home devices. Thread enables stable, low-power connections with automatic forwarding and self-healing in the event of network failures.

With integrated support for Zigbee, Bluetooth Low Energy and the Arduino IoT Cloud, the controller is versatile and can be used for sensors, actuators, controllers or gateways in the smart home sector.

Arduino: The all-rounder among IoT platforms

Hardly any other platform offers makers such a high-quality and versatile software and hardware package as Arduino. The success story begins in 2005, when the two passionate IT people Massimo Banzi and David Cuartielles develop the first Arduino, in Italy, and immediately hit the bull's eye. Within three years, no less than 50,000 copies of the compact single-board computer were sold, after which dozens of other Arduino models followed and also became top sellers. In the meantime, the platform has long since achieved cult status among hobby tinkerers.

One important reason for its success is that the hardware modules are extremely versatile and flexible thanks to their numerous inputs and outputs. With the help of Serial Read, the Arduino effortlessly reads out all desired commands. Whether you want to control displays or motors, or take measurements using sensors: Arduino always has the ideal hardware component in stock.

By the way, contrary to what is often claimed, Arduino boards cannot be used as a replacement for the Raspberry Pi, because unlike the mini-computer with the raspberry, the Arduino is dependent on an external computer. However, depending on the project, an Arduino board can be used in combination with a Raspberry Pi.
