This sensor from Panasonic is an 8x8 array of IR thermal sensors. When connected to a microcontroller (e.g. Raspberry Pi), it returns an array of 64 individual infrared temperature measurements via I2C. The sensor is comparable to a thermal imaging camera, but more compact and ready for easy integration.
The sensor measures temperatures in the range of 0°C to 80°C with an accuracy of +- 2.5°C. It can detect a person from a distance of up to 7 metres. With a maximum frame rate of 10Hz, it is perfect for creating your own human detector or mini thermal imaging camera.
For ease of use, the sensor is placed on a breakout board with a 3.3V voltage regulator and level shifting. This means you can use it with any 3V or 5V microcontroller or computer.
